MyTaste Terms of Use
Beta version. MyTaste is in private testing. These terms will be reviewed by counsel before public launch. Issued by Shower Thought Studio LLC (Texas), operator of MyTaste. Effective October 26, 2026.
The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and Shower Thought Studio LLC, a Texas company ("MyTaste", "we", "us"), covering the MyTaste app and mytasteapp.com. By using MyTaste you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use MyTaste.
Who may use MyTaste
You must be at least 13 years old. Some features, such as Friends or connecting your taste profile to another app, may carry a higher minimum age; we will say so where they are offered. You must be able to form a binding contract where you live. MyTaste is currently offered in the United States.
Accounts
You can use MyTaste without an account. If you create one, you sign in with a one-time code sent to your email; there is no password. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure and for what happens under your account. One person, one account. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings; deletion is permanent and removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
MyTaste is for personal, non-commercial use: swiping on dishes, getting recommendations, and finding a place to eat. You agree not to:
- Use bots, scripts, or automation to swipe or to pull data from MyTaste
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute restaurant information, photos, or any other content shown in the app
- Reverse-engineer the app, probe its servers, or try to get around its usage limits
- Create multiple accounts, or use someone else's account or email
- Use MyTaste to harass, stalk, or impersonate anyone, or to collect information about other users beyond what they choose to show you
- Use MyTaste in any way that breaks the law or the terms of the services it relies on (see Third-party content)
MyTaste applies daily limits on searches and lookups per account to keep the service affordable and fair. Hitting a limit is normal; trying to evade one is not.
Friends, parties, and your profile
When the Friends feature is offered, you can choose a handle and a profile photo, find other users by handle, taste code, or (optionally) your phone's contacts, and send and accept friend requests. Friends you accept can see parts of your taste profile, as the Privacy Policy describes. You can decline requests, remove a friend, or block anyone at any time.
Your handle, profile photo, and the dish photos you take are the only content you show other users. You agree that they will not impersonate anyone, include anyone else's personal information, or be hateful, sexual, violent, or otherwise offensive. We may remove a handle or photo, or close an account, that breaks this rule. If you see one that does, use Report in the app or email legal@mytasteapp.com.
If you use contacts matching, you confirm that you are allowed to share those contacts with us for that purpose. MyTaste scrambles them on your phone, checks for matches, and discards them, as the Privacy Policy describes; we never message your contacts.
When the Parties feature is offered, you can invite friends to a party, swipe on a short set of restaurants together, and see the group's ranked result. Only friends can be invited, and only people who accept are members. A party's result is a suggestion for the group, not a reservation; booking happens through other companies' services as described under Third-party content, and MyTaste is not responsible for whether the group shows up, the restaurant has room, or anyone enjoys the meal. The person who creates a party can end or delete it for everyone; any member can leave at any time. Party invitations and names are subject to the same conduct rule as handles and photos.
Your taste data
Your swipes, favorites, and craves are yours. You can see them in the app, take a copy, and delete them at any time, as the Privacy Policy describes.
To run MyTaste, you give us permission to store and process that data: to build your taste profile, generate your recommendations, restore your profile on a new device, and produce anonymous totals across many users that help us improve the service and, in the future, help restaurants understand which dishes people respond to. That permission ends when you delete your account, except for anonymous totals that can no longer be linked to you.
We will never sell your data, and we will not share your individual data with anyone unless you take an action in the app that does so.
Dish photos you take (when the feature is offered). You own the photos you take with MyTaste's camera. By taking one, you give Shower Thought Studio LLC a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to store it, show it to other users within MyTaste (as a swipe card or on the restaurant's page), resize and crop it for display, and use it to improve the service, including to train MyTaste's own food-recognition models. The license lasts as long as the photo is in MyTaste; deleting the photo or your account ends it, except for copies already in transit or in anonymous totals. We will not sell your photos or license them to anyone else. You confirm that each photo is of food you were served, taken live and unedited, and that it does not show other people without their permission. Photos may be removed if they break this rule.
Photos and other content you post
When MyTaste lets you post content — today, dish photos taken with the in-app camera; in future perhaps captions or short clips — these rules apply to all of it.
What you may post. Photos of food or drink you were served, taken live with MyTaste's camera at the restaurant you are in.
What you may not post:
- Anything that is not food or drink — people (including yourself) as the subject, menus, receipts, the room, pets
- Nudity or sexual content, graphic violence, or anything hateful, harassing, or threatening
- Another person's personal information, or a person who has not agreed to appear
- Photos you did not take, or that copy someone else's work
- Anything illegal, or that promotes illegal activity
How we keep MyTaste safe. Every photo passes an automated check before anyone else sees it: it must look like food, and it must not contain adult, violent, or otherwise unsafe content. Photos may also be held for our review before they appear. Anyone can report a photo in the app (long-press → Report) or by emailing legal@mytasteapp.com; we review reports promptly and remove content that breaks these rules. You can block another user to hide their photos from you. Repeat violations lead to losing the camera, and then your account.
Our role. We do not pre-screen everything and cannot guarantee that every photo meets these rules. Content other users post is theirs, not ours, and to the fullest extent the law allows (including Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act) we are not responsible for it. We may remove any content or close any account at our discretion, with or without notice, and we cooperate with law enforcement where the law requires.
Copyright. If you believe a photo in MyTaste infringes your copyright, email legal@mytasteapp.com with the photo, where you saw it, proof you own the work, your contact details, and a statement under penalty of perjury that your claim is accurate. We remove infringing content and may terminate repeat infringers.
MyTaste's content
The MyTaste app, its name and logo, its design, its recommendation methods, and the dish labels and taste profiles it generates belong to Shower Thought Studio LLC. You may use them only through the app as intended. You may not copy, modify, sell, or build on them without our written permission.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
Third-party content
Google Maps. Restaurant information and photos in MyTaste come from Google Maps Platform today. By using MyTaste you also agree to the Google Terms of Service and acknowledge the Google Privacy Policy. Photos belong to their contributors; MyTaste shows the attribution Google provides and a link to each photo's source. You may not copy, cache, or redistribute Google content from MyTaste.
Other sources. We may add photos and restaurant information from other licensed sources, such as review or reservation platforms, or from restaurants directly. Each source will be named in the app and listed here with its terms before its content appears. The same rule applies to all of them: look, swipe, and visit, but do not copy, cache, or redistribute their content.
Restaurant information. Names, addresses, hours, and photos are supplied by third parties and may be out of date or wrong. MyTaste doesn't verify them. Check with the restaurant before you go.
Booking and directions. "Find a table" and "Directions" open other companies' services (such as OpenTable and your phone's maps app). Those services have their own terms; MyTaste is not party to any reservation you make and is not responsible for them.
Recommendations. MyTaste's recommendations are predictions based on your swipes. They are suggestions, not endorsements, and not a guarantee of quality, safety, or availability. MyTaste does not check for allergens or dietary suitability; always confirm with the restaurant.
Beta and availability
MyTaste is an early product. Features may change, be removed, or break. We may suspend the service for maintenance or for reasons outside our control, and we may limit usage per account. We don't promise MyTaste will always be available or error-free.
No warranty
MyTaste is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that recommendations will suit you, that restaurant information is accurate, or that the service will be uninterrupted or secure.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Shower Thought Studio LLC and its owners, employees, and providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of MyTaste. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (MyTaste is free today, so that is $50). Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Indemnity
If your misuse of MyTaste causes a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
Termination
You can stop using MyTaste at any time and delete your account in the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, or creates risk for other users, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it. Sections about your data, our content, warranties, liability, and disputes survive termination.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For changes that matter, we will show a notice in the app before they take effect and update the date at the top. Using MyTaste after that date means you accept the new terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at legal@mytasteapp.com and give us 30 days to resolve it. Any dispute not resolved that way will be decided in the state or federal courts in Dallas County, Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
General
If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them in a merger or sale. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about MyTaste.
